“True that. Well then, be safe Rhys. I hope I can get to you in time, government’s got a nice bonus for you to bring him in kicking and screaming.”
“Ok, Eddie, will do.” Andrew hangs up and packs his bags for his early morning trip.
Andrew arrives in front of the address he was given. The house is a large, white, four bedroom ranch style lake house. There is nothing to set it aside from the rest of the houses on the street. Andrew pulls his truck up in front of the next house, and checks his pistol. He walks casually to the door. He checks to find the screen door is open. He props the door open with his foot and knocks loud enough for anyone in the house to have heard. A young girl answers; as she opens the door Andrew steps through the door and swings his pistol from his hip to within an inch from the girls face.
“This is why you don’t leave you screen unlocked. Now close up the house, and please remain calm. Is there anyone else here?”
She closes the door and locks it. In a wavering voice, “No I’m the only one here.”
Looking about the living room of the house, he motions toward the couch, “Good have a seat. Don’t worry; I’m not in the business of killing.” He keeps his gun in hand but places it in his lap as he takes up residence in a recliner overlooking the couch. “I’m searching for a man and was given this address. Are you Candice Ashford?”
Still scared out of her wits, “Yes I am.”
“Awesome.” Andrew’s cell rings, he looks at the caller ID, and answers it. “Dammit Eddie, you know right when to call,” answering the call, “I’m working, make this quick!”
“I’m in Fritch, did you find him yet?”
“No, he’s not here I’m in the middle of an interrogation.”
“Fine, just meet me at the Subway in town when you’re done then.”
Andrew hangs up the phone and puts it back in his pocket, “Damn family always knows when to call. Now, I’m looking for this man.” He pulls out the photo and hands it to her. “You were seen with him a few months ago. Where can I find him now?”
Breathing heavily, “He moves around a lot. My house is one of many he uses around the country. Are you going to kill him?”
“Not unless he tries to kill me. I know you know where he went after leaving here, so where is that?”
“He said he was heading west. The next westward house I know of is in Flagstaff, I was there once for a weekend.”
“Do you have an address, or place of frequency I can find him?”
“I think I have the address somewhere.”
He gets up and motions to her, “Let’s go find it.”
Finding the local Subway in town, Andrew parks his truck next to a brand new, classic black, Chevy Tahoe with deep tinted windows. He walks around to the driver’s window and taps the dark glass. He can see the shadow of a man move about and open the door.
Slightly sleepy, “Glad you found me bro. How was the interrogation?”
“Rather well. I have an address in Flagstaff.”
Getting out of the car, “Sounds like you’re rolling.” Eddie turns to the rear driver’s door. As he opens the door and reveals a black briefcase, “10K, first half to bring Sypher in alive. You kill him and you get no more from us.”
Taking the case, “Nice, got to love the government. I’ll do my best. How the hell did you get here so fast and know I was still in town?”
“I’m just lucky that you were still here; and I chartered a private jet.”
“Nice, well bro, I’d love to stay and chat but I need to head for Flagstaff.”
“That’s fine, this guy needs to be apprehended right fast and your hot on his trail more than anyone could have hoped. I’ll never know how you have so much luck on these things.”
Andrew finds himself in a rural housing development, on the far outskirts of Flagstaff. He drives past the address. The house is a large, red brick house, with no porch, but a twelve foot entry way, the door is surrounded by windows. There is an attached three car garage. As he parks his truck up the road a few houses, he sees three men walk out of the house. They all have one hand in a pocket or hidden behind a jacket. He exits his truck and reaching into the back of his cab, pulling out his M4, two magazines, and two flash bang grenades. He moves around the front of his truck and makes for the house. The men see him as he gets near the house next door; they pull their guns and begin firing on him without word. Two of the men are carrying 9mm pistols, and the other a Mini Uzi. As bullets rush past him, Andrew takes cover behind the stone wall surrounding the front yard of the house next door to his objective. The men seize fire.
Yelling over the wall, “Put down the toys kids, I don’t want to have to kill you!”
“Fuck off merc! We’re not letting you get our glorious Lord,” screams the Uzi soldier.
The men open fire again. Popping his M4 over the wall, Andrew blind fires; he lands two bullets in one of the pistoliers, hitting him in the left thy and arm. The man drops his gun as he falls to the ground screaming in pain. The other two men take cover about the house; one hiding in the entry way, the other on the far corner. Taking advantage of the opening, Andrew runs to the corner of the house where the garage is located. Hugging the house and staying as low as possible he sets for the door way. The Uzi soldier pops out from the far corner, and before he can pull the trigger he’s put down by two bullets to his chest.
The last pistolier, throws his weapon out in the yard and pops from cover, “Don’t kill me man!”
Andrew rushes the man and delivers a rifle butt to his face knocking him out. Andrew whips himself around toward the door and slowly approaches, finger ready. He breaks the glass to the left of the door to see into the entry way inside. Seeing no threat, but two men running past through the kitchen and hearing the rear sliding door open as they yell and run from the scene, Andrew opens the door. As soon as he enters a man swings a metal baseball bat at his head. He ducks out of the swing, sweeps the sluggers legs from underneath him and as the slugger hits the floor, delivers a powerful elbow to his head knocking him out. Andrew then does a sweep of the main floor; nothing in the office, utility room, or kitchen and living room. Finding a door down stairs, he tosses a flash bang down the stairs, “Frag out!” Nothing is heard, he moves through the hall from the kitchen back to the entryway and up the stairs, he clears the rooms finding no one else.
He grabs any weapons near the unconscious men and makes his way over to the pistolier that lay wounded in the front yard. Motioning him to calm down and move into a better position, “Here let me see that.” He rips the man’s shirts off and uses it to tie off the wounds so that they will stop bleeding. He then grabs the man under his arms and drags him back to the house and in the door.
Setting the man down, “Ok, so where do I find Sypher?”
“What if I don’t tell you?”
