Taking a deep breath, Kimiko assures him, “We got this.”
Andrew kicks open the door, and rushes through; Kimiko follows fast behind him. Slouched in a golden chair, looking on with authority, is the black suited man. Behind him is a desecrated altar; before him stand the hostages and their escorts. Seated in the pews of the church are two female adults, three male adults, and one female of high school age, five children, four female and one male all between the ages of eight and twelve, and three priests. Andrew and Kimiko take cover behind the pews training their gun sights on the leader and his throne.
Sitting forward in his chair, the suit ponders, “What have we here?”
Andrew responds matter of factly, “My name’s Andrew Irons. My friend Kimiko and I are here to put a stop to whatever it is that’s going on here.”
Through a hysterical laughter, “Don’t make me laugh.” Pulling himself together, “I’ll bet that ass of a Pope sent you here. Boy needs to do his homework before he just sends people to die.”
Kimiko speaks up, “Look here douche face, we have two ways of doing this-“
The suit stands, “I’m going with option three,” point his finger at them and screams, “KILL THEM!”
The three male teens, only three rows ahead of Andrew and Kimiko are the first to take action. As soon as they turn to Andrew he is frozen; their eyes are pure white, no pupil, no iris, nothing. Andrew is grabbed and thrown into the center aisle. Kimiko is left being surrounded by the teen girl and five kids.
Upon realizing who Kimiko is, Silver turns to the suit, “That one’s a vampire, old and tough, be careful of her.”
Snickering, the suit replies, “Sounds fun.”
Silver turns to his men, “Sanders, best you stay here and take care of her.” Silver and his other associate leave through the back of the church.
As Andrew gets to his feet, he has only seconds to sling his rifle and ready his baton before the boys have surrounded him. One stands in front, two at his back. “Well now I know who’s calling the shots in this fight.”
The boy to the back right of Andrew charges in for an attack, Andrew spins pivoting on his left foot, as he puts his right foot down, the boy is in perfect range, Andrew uses his momentum and delivers a left kick straight into the boy’s chest, knocking him on his back. This move, however, has left Andrew open, and the lead boy takes advantage by grabbing Andrew under arm from behind, the other boy rushes in and pounds Andrew in the gut with three punches before Andrew can retaliate with a knee to the attacker’s stomach. Andrew head butts his capture in the nose, forcing him to let go. Andrew turns and delivers a right Spartan kick to the boy’s chest, sending him to his back, unconscious, and six feet away. Picking up his baton, Andrew charges the last boy; using his baton he sweeps the boy’s leg out from under him, and smacks him in the chest. Andrew grabs hold of the boy and executes a perfect sleeper hold on him. As Andrew stands victorious from his fight and turns toward Kimiko, he is met with a sucker punch, from one of the three priests, sending him to the floor.
Looking up at them, “Now that wasn’t very nice.”
Kimiko stares down the teen girl as the five children seek up behind and alongside her. Rushing in from behind, two of the little girls try to grab a hold of Kimiko. Kimiko side steps their rush and trips them to the floor; however, the little boy and one of the other girls grab hold of her legs. “GET OFF,” Kimiko shouts, lifting, the little girl in the air as she tries to hold Kimiko’s arm down. Kimiko tosses the girl off her arm, and kicks the boy loose. As she turns back toward the teen girl, Kimiko is greeted by her with a tackle to the floor. The little boy gets up and is aided by the girl that is still on her feet in grabbing Kimiko’s wrists and holding them down. The teen girl quickly sits on Kimiko’s chest and lands three left-right punches to Kimiko’s face before Kimiko can get her knees between her and the girl to force her off. Kimiko uses her legs to give her momentum in jumping to her feet; the kids lose grip. Kimiko steps into a hard right hook to the teen girl’s face, knocking her unconscious to the floor. The other kids step back, trying to figure out what they should do.
Observing the fight, Sanders takes a step toward Kimiko, but is stopped by the suit. Having one hand in front of Sanders, the suit raises his left hand, palm facing out into the church, “I got this.” As the suit finishes his sentence, as dark cloud of ethereal shadow spews from his hand. Andrew and Kimiko, concentrating on the threat directly in front of them, have no chance to react, and are consumed by the shadow and fall to the floor. As the shadow disperses, all of the people that are still conscious in the church (with exception to the suit and Sanders) begin to recite a prayer:
Set free from that unneeded.
The heart and soul were merely chains.
Thanks to our great leader that has changed,
We now feel nothing more than strength.
God shall fear us for now our hearts are vane.
Kimiko, begins to stir. Sore; as if from a fall. “Haha?”
“Yes dear, momma’s here. Now please rest, you’ve had a spell.”
Still getting her sense of surrounding, “What do you mean?”
With a small laugh and smile, “You were out training the fields with Shinichi and you just collapsed. He carried you in and has gone for help at the temple.”
Coming to, and realizing where she truly is, Kimiko questions, “How the hell am I here?”
Her mother brings her close to her chest, “I know things are confusing but it will all pass.”
As her mother holds her close and begins running her fingers through Kimiko’s hair, Kimiko can hear the commotion of her husband coming with help. As he enters the bedroom, “Otto, what are you doing here?’
Rushing to her side, “Watashi no ai, you’re awake. How are you feeling?”
Awake, yet confused of by her surroundings, “I’m not sure.”
“It’s ok,” holding Kimiko tight to his chest. “This will soon pass.”
Kimiko, now fully aware of where she is, climbs to her feet. Looking around the room and those gathered, “Tawagoto kenri wa arimasen.”
Shinichi, beacons for the doctor to come to Kimiko’s aide. Kiimiko, glares at him, fending him off for the moment. Shinichi begs Kimiko, “Darling, please you must rest, we need to make sure you are well.” Shinichi, now on his feet steps toward her.
As Shinichi tries to close in on Kimiko and comfort her, she reaches for a vase on a nearby table. “Take another step and this is going to be part of your face.”
Stopping his advance, Shinichi assures Kimiko, “Why would I ever harm my own tsuma?”
Kimiko stares right into the eyes of her beloved Shinichi, “You are not my anata.”
Surprised by this, Shinichi steps toward Kimiko as a means of greeting her into his arms to comfort her. However, Kimiko knows too well; she darts toward him first. She unsheathes, Shinichi’s wakizashi, and runs it through his chin deep into his skull.
Andrew, begins coming to. He sees four people gathered around him. One of them, Andrew’s eldest brother, greats him, “Mournin’ sunshine.”
“Wayne? The hell are you doin’ here?”
Laughing, Wayne informs his brother of the facts, “I’m your big bro; I’m here to make sure your bitch ass wakes up. Mom, Dad, Sis, and even Eddie are all here, BEEN here watching you.”
Aware now of his surroundings, Andrew questions his situation, “What happened to me this time?”
Eddie and his sister chime in together, “You were a dumbass.”
Everyone laughs, even Andrew, “Yea that sounds like me. Last thing I remember was fighting some dude in a church.”
Andrew’s father shakes his head in disbelief, “More like a fight with some thug in a back alley over some chicks purse that obviously wasn’t worth the time; it was the bar tender that found you.”
Hanging his gaze in shame, “Shit, I do tend to that sort of thing.” Realizing his statement to be that of not what he remembers happening, Andrew then realizes that his whole family, is there. Andrew knows full well that his brother Eddie is not going to leave the confines of Washington D.C. just to look over his brother after a bar fight. Then it truly hits him…
Looking at Wayne with fear on his face, Andrew jumps to his feet, “You’re dead!”
